Boulder Airport Master Plan
| |
The Boulder Municipal Airport's Airport Master Plan was last updated in October 1994. The 1994 Airport
Master Plan Update Study included a number of recommendations and capital improvements to the facility.
Most of the identified improvements have been made. The role of the airport and basic layout of facilities
are not expected to change in the future; however, in the last 10 years, other operational and maintenance
needs, local issues, and noise concerns have developed. It is necessary to take a current examination of
the facility and the community's needs with regard to the airport facility.
The Airport Master Plan Update has begun and is expected to be completed in early 2005. There is a working
group of citizens, pilots, aviation industry reps, city and county staff who assemble periodically to
cooperatively address the issues and forecast for the airport. The Gunbarrel community is represented by
the two residents and a county community liaison. The update process will include both technical and
analytical tasks and public involvement activities. It is imperative we, as a community, understand the
future of the Boulder Municipal airport and its impacts on our property values and quality of life.
There will be several public open house meetings to review and discuss the Airport Master Plan Update
issues and concerns. We encourage the Gunbarrel community to participate in the process.
