The Gunbarrel Community
Association (GCA) is an organization of people
with a common interest in the future of Gunbarrel. Most of us live in Gunbarrel,
some as residents of Boulder County, some as residents of the City of Boulder.
But we also count among our numbers those who own and operate businesses in
Gunbarrel, those who are employed in those businesses, and those who patronize
those businesses. All of us are stakeholders in the future of Gunbarrel.
We formed the GCA to be an advocacy group for the stakeholders of Gunbarrel.
We intend to stay informed on issues relevant to Gunbarrel stakeholders, to
disseminate information relative to those issues to the Gunbarrel community
at large, to collect information and opinions from those people regarding
those issues, and to influence the development and outcomes of those issues.
We recognize that there are many diverse points of view, on a variety of subjects,
held by members of the Gunbarrel community, some with a long history and some born
of recent events. Some of these points of view are held deeply and will be
difficult to change. We realize, also, that there are external constraints; e.g.,
the laws of the State of Colorado, the agreements documented in Boulder Valley
Comprehensive Plan, the zoning requirements of the City of Boulder; that must
be either satisfied or changed if some issues can be resolved satisfactorily.
Therefore, we advocate a negotiated settlement of the issues confronting the
Gunbarrel community that acknowledges all these influences and constraints,
not a simplistic solution that considers only the points of view of one side
or the other.
We welcome the thoughts and opinions of all the stakeholders in Gunbarrel.
